Well Owner’s Guide to Clean Water

There are many ways that your well can become contaminated. You should be maintaining your water as often as possible so you know your health isn’t going to be impacted. If the smell, taste, or color of your water suddenly changes, be sure to reach out to us right away.

You may have contaminated water.

We put together this quick guide for you to make sure you have clean water at home!

Test Your Water Often

You are responsible for the quality of water that comes from your well. That means, you need to be certain the water is safe to drink! You should be testing fairly often.

You should use a water quality indicator, or WQI, to check for contaminants. A WQI will show you if the following are in your water:

  • E. Coli
  • Total Coliform
  • Nitrate/Nitrite
  • Lead

You should have the water tested yearly at least, but you may consider doing it twice a year. You also will want to test your water if there are problems with the water quality in nearby areas or notice a change in the taste or smell of your water.

Who Should Test It?

Monticello Pump Services can test the water for you, if you are in the Leesburg area. It’s best to have our professionals conduct the test, since we can test for all the above at one time. This process will save you a lot of time.

So, instead of Googling “water well pump service near me” let us handle it for you!

Treating Well Water

There are several different options for treating well waters. You can use them to improve the taste of the water and remove contaminants.

A few type of filters/Water treatment are:

  • Water softeners
  • Distillation systems
  • Disinfection
  • Carbon
  • Sediment

We can provide treatments and ensure that you receive constant pressure well from the pump through our various well services.

Regular Well Maintenance

Finally, make sure that you have frequent well water check ups for maintenance. We can ensure your water is safe to drink and fix issues with no water pressure. The CDC recommends that you have your well tested and inspected at least once a year.

We would be happy to help with your well maintenance! Our team has many years of experience in working with water systems and are very familiar with what to test for. Overall, maintenance is very important in your well.
